Jordan’s National Centre for Security and Crisis Management has published a new workplace infection control guide. The comprehensive guide outlines measures and guidelines public and private employers and employees have to follow when a Coronavirus infection is discovered in workplaces. Those who are infected should leave workplaces immediately in line with infection control protocols. Those who are asymptomatic should isolate at home for 10 days. If they have mild symptoms they should isolate at home for 13 days but to come out of isolation they should not show any symptoms in the last three days. The infected individual can only return to work once they have completed the prescribed isolation period and will not have to take a PCR test. Employers should alert the local health district if one or more infections are discovered. The institution should suspend work and close down for 24-hours and list the direct contacts with the infected person. This will apply to anyone who has face-to-face contact for 15 minutes at a distance of 1.5 metres or less. They must ask the direct contacts of the infected person to isolate at home for 10 days. Private sector employers have to pay for two PCR tests. The first test will have to be taken when the infection is detected and the second before the employee returns to work. They will have to test the indirect contacts after discovering the infection, and if the result is negative, they can return to work in line with the institution’s instructions. Private sector institutions will have to hire a private company to sterilise all of its facilities and the places where the infected person was in. Public sector employers will have to coordinate with the Centre or Crisis Cell to carry out the required sterilisation procedures. Finally, the institution will have to send and follow up on the results of contact testing with the local health district.
