Bahrain’s Cabinet has approved wage relief in line with an amendment to the Kingdom’s Unemployment Insurance Law. Under the amendment by Bahrain Decree No. 30/2020 to Article 8(5)(c) of Bahrain Decree-Law No. 78/2006, 50% of the wages for Bahraini citizens, employed across enterprises which have been most adversely affected by Coronavirus and who are insured under the Social Insurance Law, Bahrain Decree-Law No. 24/1976 will be paid. The wages will be paid from the unemployment insurance account for three months from October, in line with the rules and regulations specified by the Labour and Social Development Minister.
