Jordan’s Labour Minister has announced monthly wages can be reduced by up to 50% in lockdown areas. Communication 9 has been issued to this effect. It was issued in line with Jordan Defence Order No. 6/2020 to regulate the working time and wages of private sector employees who live in the areas affected or work outside them or live outside them and work in them during the lockdown period. It will also affect private entities subject to the Labour Law. However, the reduction must not lead to the employee earning below the minimum wage.
Employers can also not assign an employee to any work at the workplace, but may assign them to work remotely in line with Jordan Defence Order No. 6/2020 and associated legislation. Histoire complète
