Coffee Shop Shut for Violating COVID-19 Regulations

A coffee shop in Manama has been shut by authorities for failing to follow COVID-19 regulations. A raid was conducted by the Department of Food Control in coordination with the Inspection Department of the Ministry of Industry, Trade ad Tourism and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA). Officers stated the coffee shop had violated the current rules which prevent the selling of food services inside in restaurants and cafes expect with the authorisation of BTEA. The cafe was closed immediately and legal procedures are being taken. On 28 July 2020 BTEA issued a circular which stated restaurants approved by BTEA and those in four and five star hotels would be allowed to operate as long as they were taking reservations for special occasions for groups of not more than 20 and only one such reservation at a time could be taken. However, outdoor dining in restaurants and coffee shops is banned until 3 September 2020. Histoire complète
