Egypt’s Cabinet has approved a Decision waiving visa fees for foreign tourists. The waiver will last until 31 October 2020. This is when the country’s tourist season ends. The country’s Civil Aviation Ministry has already approved a 50% discount on accommodation and landing fees in tourist cities for charter trips and a 20% discount on ground services in all tourist cities. A draft decision amending the Implementing Regulations on distance education, specifically in terms of vacations and online exams was also approved by the Cabinet. In addition, an agreement on debt owed by EgyptAir to Misr Petroleum Company has been approved. The agreement will restructure their debt over eight years and cancels 50% of the interest imposed on delayed repayment. EgyptAir will also be given one year before it has to start repaying the debt. Finally, a Finance Ministry proposal to start work on model contracts for the new financial year which starts next month was approved and the Public Authority for Governmental Services has been instructed to work with the relevant authorities on the automation of model contracts.
