Community Gyms Being Allowed to Open in Dubai

A notice has been issued which states all gyms in residential buildings are allowed to operate from 31 May 20202 provided capacity did not exceed 50 per cent. However, many have chosen not to open as strict guidelines are now in force, and users must wear face masks at all times and continue to observe social distancing. Rules sent to residents in Emaar and Nakheel properties have included wiping down equipment before and after use, keeping at least two metres from other gym users, wearing face masks at all times, and sessions limited to 60 minutes.

Those over the age of 60 and under the age of 12 are prohibited and for now personal trainers are not allowed in the gyms. Pools are not yet opening. A statement issued by the Real Estate Regulation Agency (RERA) and Dubai Municipality has also stated that the frequency of disinfecting should increase. It has been said this applied especially to door handles, stairs, equipment, air-conditioning units and television remote controls. Developers have also been told that social distancing could be maintained by either removing equipment completely or by displaying out of use signs. Private gyms in Dubai were permitted to begin operating on 27 May 2020. The rules are similar but personal trainers are limited to working with two clients per session. Histoire complète
