Coronavirus Violators to be Penalised

Bahrain’s Chief Prosecutor has announced the Public Prosecution has completed its investigations into cases related to violations of health procedures and precautionary measures to tackle Coronavirus. 19 suspects have been referred to the lower criminal court. 12 suspects are accused of violating the mandatory home isolation rules, by leaving their homes during the isolation period. Three offenders are accused of opening their shops and practising their commercial activities in violation of the decisions to close commercial outlets and cafés. Four officials in some commercial outlets are accused of failing to meet the health requirements to protect their clients and prevent the spread of COVID-19. They are accused of not taking the temperatures of their employees and customers. They are also accused of failing to ensure the appropriate social distancing rules were maintained as well as failing to sanitize shopping carts after they had been used and failing to provide employees with gloves. A café was also prosecuted. They will appear in the lower criminal court on 22 April and have been released after paying financial guarantees. If they are prosecuted they will be jailed for up to three years and fined up to 10,000 Dinars for violating the health and safety rules related to tackling Coronavirus. Histoire complète
