Self-isolation Rules Reiterated

The Chief Executive of Bahrain’s Information and eGovernment Authority has said anyone self-isolating will be tagged. They will be electronically tagged to ensure they do not leave their home. Anyone who tries to remove or tamper with a tag will have committed a violation.

Violators will be prosecuted in line with the country’s Public Health Law (Bahrain Law No. 34/2018). They could be jailed for up to three months and/or fined between 1,000 and 10,000 AED. It will automatically send a warning if they are more than 15 metres away from their phone. Health Ministry officials may request pictures from those self-isolating randomly. These pictures will have to show their face and the tag. The aim is to tackle the spread of Coronavirus in the Kingdom. The bracelets work with the COVID-19 contact tracing, BeAware application launched last month. The application identifies contact tracing cases and notifies individuals in the event they approach an active case or a location where an active case has visited or passed through. Those self-isolating must give their isolation location by selecting Set Home Location on arrival. Location information can be corrected by calling 444. Histoire complète
