New Anti-Coronavirus Measures Come into Force

New anti-Coronavirus measures announced by the Turkish authorities have come into force. They include a partial weekend curfew and came into force at 8.00pm on 20 November. There will be restrictions on movements between 10pm and 8am. A partial curfew for those over 65 has also been expanded to include children and young people under 20, except for those who have to go to work. These individuals will be able to leave their homes from 10am to 4pm during the week. Cinemas will be closed for the rest of the year and malls, markets, restaurants and hairdressers will be allowed to open from 10am to 8pm during the week. Restaurants will only be allowed to provide delivery services. Remote learning will be in place until the end of the year as well and spectators will not be allowed to attend sports competitions. Finally, a smoking ban on crowded streets and other public areas will continue and public and private sector employers have to allow flexible working hours for their employees. An Interior Ministry directive to this effect was issued and sent to all of the country’s provincial authorities.
