MPs Say No to Bill to Cut Private Sector Salaries

National Assembly Members have rejected a government proposal to allow employers in the private sector to negotiate with their employees to reduce salaries by 50% or require unpaid leave during lockdown. 34 MPs voted against the bill, 13 voted for it and one abstained. The bill also stipulated that the government would compensation Kuwaiti national employees by granting them a national labour subsidy and an amount equal to the lost salary. Full story
