All Commercial Activities to Resume

Qatar’s Trade and Industry Ministry has announced the details of the second phase of the gradual lifting of restrictions imposed on commercial complexes, shopping malls, popular markets and restaurants from tomorrow. Games halls, amusement parks, skating halls, prayer rooms and cinemas, as well as restaurants in these complexes and centres will remain closed. However, restaurants can provide takeaway or delivery services. All commercial activities in Gold Market, Al Ali Market, Al Gharafa Market, Thursday and Friday Market, Waqif Market in Doha, Old Al Wakra Market, Central Market in Sailiya can also resume.People who do not wear face masks will not be allowed in and visitors will have to wear them while they are in the commercial complex. The temperatures of employees and visitors will have to be taken at entrances and individuals with temperatures over 38 degrees will not be allowed to enter the commercial complex. Hand sanitisers will have to be provided and visitors will have to comply with social distancing rules. Malls will not have to be more than 50% full and the numbers of available parking spaces will have to be reduced by half. Smoking at entrances will be banned and all containers designated for cigarette waste removed. Gatherings of visitors or limousine drivers at entrances to commercial complexes will be banned. The Trade and Industry Ministry has specified stores and outlets operating in complexes, commercial centres and popular markets must constantly check and measure the temperatures of employees working in them and isolate employees who show symptoms. They should also inform the relevant authorities to take the necessary anti-Coronavirus measures and apply the remote working decision to employees over 60, pregnant women or individuals who have chronic diseases. Full story
