Food Security Dashboard Launched in Dubai

The Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management has announced a food security dashboard has been launched. It includes representatives from the public and private sectors in the Emirate. It will support the Dubai Food Security Committee and is part of the UAE’s strategy to ensure food security across the country. The Committee are responsible for ensuring the availability of food supplies to residents in the Emirate. They also defined basic food commodities and assessed food supply based on the needs and consumption habits of Dubai residents. In addition, they monitored companies who import and export food supplies, in order to determine whether or not to increase existing inventory. They also prepare studies and forecasts, develop proactive risk and emergency management plans and develop awareness programmes and community outreach plans to enhance knowledge around food security in the Emirate. It has been developed by a local government team and was supported by Smart Dubai as well as the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Dubai Port, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Dubai Economy. It will use Artificial Intelligence and data analytics to measure the supply index, stock availability, local production, consumption levels and the cost of vital commodities in the Emirate. Full story
