According to the Petra News Agency companies affected by COVID-19 will be allowed to cut May and June salaries of their employees by 30%. The Jordanian government had put a lockdown in place for a number of weeks which impacted businesses. However, employees cannot be forced or coerced into agreeing a salary reduction. Only companies approved by the labour and industry and commerce ministry can implement pay cuts. There are new labour regulations which provide details on cutting the salaries and leave balances of furloughed workers and contract agreements. Full story
