Coronavirus Penalties Amended

The UAE authorities have announced the penalties for various Coronavirus offences have been amended. Those who don’t comply with the rules relating to the closing of schools, gyms, cinema, parks, cafes, restaurants, pools or those violating the opening and closing times for restaurants, parks and malls, among others, will be fined 50,000 AED. Those who have or have had Coronavirus or try to tamper with tracking device or applications installed by the authorities will be fined 20,000 AED. Those who fail to install thermal cameras will be fined the same amount. Individuals who have Coronavirus or refuse to download the Coronavirus tracing application will be fined 10,000 AED. Those who have parties or gatherings will be fined 10,000 AED and those who attend will be fined 5,000 AED each. Cars with more than three people in them will be fined 3,000 AED. Companies who don’t ensure the 30% limit on their staff in the office will be fined 3,000 AED as well. Companies who don’t ensure their employees wear face masks will be fined 5,000 AED and employees who don’t wear face masks will be fined 500 AED. Institutions which do not follow the social distancing rules will be fined 5,000 AED and individuals involved will be fined 3,000 AED each.

Shops which open for longer than they are allowed to will be fined 5,000 AED and those who refuse to do a Coronavirus test will be fined the same amount. Those who refuse to retake a Coronavirus test after two weeks will be fined 1,000 AED. Those who violate sterilisation period restrictions will be fined 3,000 AED and private tutors who violate current rules will be fined 30,000 AED. Those who host the tutor will be fined 20,000 AED. Companies who move workers between Emirates will be fined 10,000 AED and the vehicle will be confiscated. In addition, those who fail to comply with home and health quarantine will be fined 50,000 AED. Repeat violations will be referred to the Public Prosecution. They will be prosecuted and could be jailed for up to six months and/or fined up to 100,000 AED.
