Medical Treatment Rules for Expatriate Employees Clarified

Oman’s Health Ministry has clarified the medical treatment rules for expatriate employees. It follows inaccurate reports on social media about the free medical treatment available to these types of employees. The Ministry has clarified residents with sponsors will have to have their medical treatment costs paid for by the sponsor. Residents with health insurance will have their medical treatment costs paid for by their insurance. The Ministry is following up with insurance companies on this. Where residents cannot pay the costs of their medical treatment, the Government will intervene. The Ministry has also called for rumours not to be spread and information from official outlets only to be referred to. Full story
