The House of Representatives adopted, on Wednesday May 13, 2020, bill n ° 30.20 enacting specific measures for travel and tourist accommodation contracts and passenger air transport contracts, during a plenary session chaired by M. Habib El Malki, President of the House of Representatives, in the presence of Ms. Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and the Social Economy.
The bill allows service providers to reimburse amounts owed to their customers by a loan receipt in the form of a proposal to provide the same or similar service, without increasing the price.
It also tends to limit the repercussions of the cessation of economic activity on jobs, by reducing the pressure on the cash flow of service providers, by protecting the interests of creditors, in particular customers, by stimulating demand, and by preserving the value of transactions in Morocco by avoiding making future payments in foreign currency.
The MPs presented, during their speeches, proposals to promote the tourism sector such as revitalizing domestic tourism and encouraging the Moroccan tourism product.
They also called for a post-crisis prospective reflection by adopting a global approach for the revival of the tourism sector, the craft sector and the social economy and related sectors.
The provisions of this law are applicable for a fixed period and with defined conditions concerning travel contracts, tourist stays and passenger air transport contracts scheduled for the period from March 1, 2020 until September 30, 2020, and which were canceled due to the spread of the “Covid-19” coronavirus.
