Turkey’s Standards Institute has announced washable face mask standards have been introduced. The standards cover the production of washable face masks. It is part of anti-Coronavirus measures announced by the country’s authorities and Turkey becomes the third country to introduce these standards. Masks will be classified in three categories. These are small, medium and large. They will be developed from synthetic or natural fibres and will be produced through weaving, knitting, knitwear or non-woven textile methods. Turkey’s President has announced the standards are being developed together with the Industry and Technology and Trade Ministries along with the TSE, TUBİTAK and manufacturers. A price will be determined for these reusable masks and they will be allowed to be sold. Masks are already being sold in markets and pharmacies and are being sold for 1 Turkish Lira. Full story
