Electronic Payments in Grocery Shops Compulsory

Saudi Arabia’s National Programme for Combating Commercial Cover-up has announced grocery and supply shops must ensure electronic payment methods are available in their stores. They have to comply from today but will be given a ten-day grace period according to the Deputy Mayor of Riyadh Municipality. All retailers will have to offer electronic payment facilities by 1 August 2020. It is part of efforts to reduce the use of coins and notes in the Kingdom and comes as the country continues to tackle Coronavirus. Full story
