Salary Can Only be Reduced with Mutual Consent

Saudi Arabia’s Human Resources and Social Development Ministry has confirmed both employers and employees must agree to have their pay reduced under Article 41 of the Executive Charter for the Labour Law. The Ministry said employers cannot force employees to take unpaid leave, take leave from their annual allowance, or reduce their salary to reflect the actual working hours. Companies who have benefited from a support package offered by the Government cannot force their employees to accept one of these options and if they end the working relationship, this will be considered illegal. Full story
