Lock Down Relaxations Being Considered

The Jordanian Government is considering relaxing its lock down. According to the Media Affairs Minister, a new defence order will be issued in the coming days. It will include measures to support businesses affected by Coronavirus. Some shops in certain governorates with no Coronavirus cases and particular movement activities might be relaxed. However, inter city travel will continue to be restricted and entities which do reopen will have to follow strict safety measures, including only allowing a minimum number of employees to work. The reports follow an announcement of conditions for the private sector to restart operations. They can only return to work if there is a ‘pressing logistical or economic health need’. Four dedicated committees to ensure the country’s capacity to provide sufficient medicine, food and other essential goods during the health crisis have also been established. Full story
