National Volunteers Committee Established

The UAE Cabinet has approved the establishment of a National Volunteers Committee. It will be called the Supreme National Committee for Volunteerism in Crises. The aim is to to create an integrated and sustainable national volunteering system during crises with times of crises with all the relevant authorities, individuals and institutions taking part. It will be chaired by the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister. Its members will include the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court who will be the Deputy Chairman of the Committee and the Community Development Minister. It will supervise all national volunteer agencies during crises. It will also launch the volunteers.ae platform which will receive and approve volunteer requests. In addition, it will manage volunteers, ensure their health and safety and provide them with the support they require. Finally, it will work with local government and quasi-government agencies to consolidate volunteer campaigns during crises.
