Price Increase Fines Announced

Dubai’s Economic Development Department has announced it has issued a Decree imposing fines on those who illegally increase prices of key food and medicine products. Commercial entities and pharmacies who are found to increase prices illegally or hoard essential items will be fined between 250,000 and two million AED. In addition, those entities or pharmacies found to be violating the Decree will be closed down temporarily and will have their trade licenses suspended for between one and three months. Similar measures have been introduced by Abu Dhabi’s Economic Development Department (Story).
