The Oman Central Bank has announced that it will no longer accepts deposits of small coins, e.g. 100 Baisa and 1 Rial starting from 29 March 2020 to Eid Aladha.
The Bank has also said that it will not issue new 100 Baisa and 1 Rial coins for the Eid Aladha.
The bank has said this decision aims at improving the circulation of currency to help ensure a reduction in the withdrawal of large value notes from 5 to 50 Rials.
The decision is part of a number of procedures which have been ntroduced by the Supreme Committee tasked with looking into the handling COVID-19.
