To fight against COVID-19 within the Mauritanian territory, the Mauritanian Council of Ministers published a press release on March 26, 2020, intended to inform the financial and logistical measures which will be taken in order to reduce the negative impact of the virus on the national economy:
25 billion ouguiya MRO will be allocated to the efforts deployed in the fight against the pandemic notably by the conservation of the purchasing power of the population and the purchase of medical equipment;
creation of a “Special Social Solidarity Fund” in order to help vulnerable populations by providing them with financial assistance for 2 months, paying taxes and customs duties on food products; and the procurement of medicines.
delegations to the Inter-ministerial Committee, of skills in the management and the fight against the pandemic of COVID-19.
