COVID-19: ADOPTION BY PARLIAMENT OF THE DRAFT DECREE-LAW ON THE STATE OF EMERGENCY

Draft Legislative Decree No. 2.20.292 on the provisions relating to the state of health emergency was adopted unanimously by the Interior Committees of the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors on Monday March 23, 2020.

This project oversees measures decreed by the authorities in the context of the state of health emergency, such as travel restrictions, the prohibition of gatherings or the closing of cafes and restaurants.

This decree also regulates the decisions adopted or those which could be adopted by the government on the economic, social or environmental levels.

Persuant to this text, during the health emergency period, any violation of the measures decided by the authorities is punishable by a prison sentence of between one and three months and / or a fine varying between 300 and 1,300 dirhams, without prejudice of the heaviest sentence.

The same sanction is imposed on anyone who, by violence, threat, fraud or coercion, obstructs the application of public authority decisions taken in this direction.
